Coastal Skipper Theory ✓
by General
on inI've been studying for the RYA Coastal Skipper for the last few months and I've just passed the Theory part, which means that the practical part that I've got booked can actually go ahead which is good because the cancellation policy isn't great. I'm doing the Coastal Skipper qualification through Hamble School of Yachting (better known as Hamble School of Eating) and I opted to do the theory course online so that I can fit it around work. The online course is subcontracted out to UrbanTruant who have a good online classroom system. The is the same way that I did my Day Skipper Theory and I was impressed with it, so did the same again. I did find more issues with the course content at Coastal Skipper which was frustrating but I've communicated these back to the tutor team so hopefully they'll get fixed.
Next up for training is the practical part which is booked for the week before Easter (March 2024), then I'll need to get more miles under my belt before thinking about starting on the Yachtmaster qualifications.
UPDATE: I also found out that 'Coastal Skipper Theory' is actually 'Yachtmaster Theory', which means that I'm theory-ed up to Yachtmaster Coastal/Offshore level (not Yachtmaster Ocean though - that's a separate course)
